Uniform

It is important for the Academy that the way pupils present themselves is positive and acceptable and creates the impression of a disciplined and well-ordered establishment. It is expected that all pupils will come to the Academy every day in a neat, clean uniform, giving the message that our pupils take pride in belonging to Smawthorne Henry Moore Academy. The support of parents is essential to this process.

Why do we have academy uniforms?

Uniforms promote team culture and academy identity. Wearing the same uniform instils a feeling of togetherness. It fosters a team spirit as everyone is easily identifiable as being on the same team, or in our case – the same academy family!

If you need any help –

In addition, academy uniforms create a level playing field among the student body, which reduces peer pressure and helps to prevent bullying. An academy uniform can prevent bullying based on appearance or economic background and encourage positive feelings of being socially accepted.

School Uniform:

White shirts or polo shirts

  • Bottle Green cardigans or jumpers
  • Grey trousers
  • Grey skirts
  • Grey shorts
  • Grey pinafores
  • Green and white checked dresses
  • Black sensible school shoes or black trainers (no colour or white at all)
  • Indoor PE kit – Black shorts or jogging/tracksuit bottoms, black T-Shirt, black jumper or hoodie, black pumps or trainers.

We have two suppliers for our school uniform.

They can advise on all items of Academy uniform. The shop is closed on Wednesday, apart from during August, when the store is open from 9.00am to 1.00pm. Uniform with our Academy logo is not a necessity but is just an option.
